Hana Awase Cover KUhen

Curiosity got the better of me so even though I planned to just play KUhen when Iroha-hen is out, I jumped in and played the game… only to be left hanging because oh my god.

Anyways, this will be a very short reaction post for KUhen so lots of spoilers ahead! The non-spoiler review of Hana Awase is in here.

The game is set in Sakurada, a city located in California, USA. Although seemingly peaceful and lively outside, hidden in the dark streets of the city is the illegal trade of a powerful drug called the Rip Cord (it’s not lip code or lip cord jfc). To combat the increasing crime rate caused by the Rip Cord trade, the Sakurada Police formed a special unit called the Side Kicks, with members that each has unique skill sets. One day, after warning people about a truck that will smash through the diner that she is in, ultimately saving everyone, the heroine Inori gets scouted by Side Kicks to have her assist in investigations with her psychic dreams.

This is a non-spoiler review of the game・´∀`・)

After being chased by the government army that are after Atharva, the two young men escape and find themselves in an underground shelter called the Neosphere. There they meet the Neosphere’s only residents: a 3000-year old girl named Eve and her AI guardian Cradle. Five years ago, Kashino Zakuro lost her younger twin brother in a foggy forest. Despite other people telling her to forget about her bro and move in with life, Zakuro blamed herself for the incident. Ever since then, Zakuro has been hating herself as she decided to carry the guilt of losing her bro. In the present, seventeen-year old Zakuro receives an invitation to the 3AM tea party hosted by the “Sweet Clown”, to be held at a mansion located in the heart of the forest where she lost her brother. Being drawn by her sad experience in that forest, Zakuro attends the tea party with five other guests. The next day, however, Zakuro and the other guests find themselves unable to leave the mansion, and the Sweet Clown reveals that all of them are now locked inside. It turns out that the Sweet Clown has chosen Zakuro to be the next Sweet Clown, a being that can grant a person’s wish in exchange for turning that person into a type of dessert. As the Sweet Clown, Zakuro can free all the guests from the mansion; the problem is that she isn’t completely a Sweet Clown yet because she lacks the “desire” for anything. Fortunately, she has a harem of five “Ofrenda” (offering), who can help her desire for something… but will Zakuro choose to be the demon called Sweet Clown?

This will just be a short review of Sweet Clown, but be careful of spoilers ・´∀`・)

Hana Awase Cover

Kaen is a school for children who have talents in playing… hanafuda cards. Outside the school, people think that they are just rich kids who are good at hanafuda card games but they are actually gifted kids who can use hanafuda cards in battles i.e. killing people and stuff. Meanwhile, our heroine Mikoto is just a normal girl who loves playing hanafuda card games when she gets “chosen” by the onifuda card as the candidate to be the next Senki. Because of this, the Kaen school takes her in to help her ultimately awaken the Senki within her. In order to do this, she has to (1) study to be a proper minamo (kind of like a “water miko” who supports a kaei, guys who can bring out the power within hanafuda cards, by giving him “water” during hanafuda battles) and (2) get the help of one of the Gokou, the top five kaei in the Kaen school, to be her partner. The gokou includes the capturable guys Iroha, Mizuchi, Karakurenai, Himeutsugi, and the currently missing Utsutsu. In Mizuchi-hen, Mizuchi is chosen by the onifuda to be Mikoto’s partner, while in Hime-hen, Himeutsugi is Mikoto’s fated partner.

This is a very short thoughts review of the first two Hana Awase games・´∀`・)

It’s the third game of Norn9! Last Era felt more like a sequel, so I guess we can say that Act Tune is finally the fandisk. The game has three scenario selections: Memoria, Legend of Norn, and Cantabile. Unfortunately, the game got really bad reviews (and I can see why, after playing the game), but I can’t say no to more Akito, can I? (=゚ω゚)ノ

This a full game summary-review, so lots and lots of spoiler ahead!
